My walleye mission was only 25% successful. I braved the rain and wind to try and catch my limit today. It was quite cold, and though I had prepared by wearing hip waders and a rain jacket, I did not account for the numb fingers. Had it not been for the decent bass and nice pike early in the day, it would have been a pretty miserable day. I recently stumbled upon the simple rig of a 5" roboworm tip-hooked on a jighead. Slowly dragging it along weed edges seems to produce a similar effect to a Ned rig. A tiny wally, a few bass and a nice pike all fell victim to this simple finesse technique. The rest of the day was not so successful. Between fingers too numb to cast or feel strikes, finicky fish short-striking and wind pushing me around and missing strikes, I only managed to hook 1 decent wally on the graph shad. Hoping to go out again soon to catch some more.

I was just checking to see if the wife’s kayak works for fishing after the modifications. Apparently it does work but it still needs a few tweaks for comfort. I have to put myself in her shoes to gauge everything. It’s very difficult because she wears women’s size 5. K18/83
