Two new combos one spinning, reel and rod, and one bait, caster reel and rod. And have a rod and reel coming in soon and I’m gonna get a Shimano Bait caster real.

Went for a walk and hooked up with a 42 inch behemoth Chinook. I didn’t weigh it but I’m going with heavy like definitely over 30 pounds. Landed five and lost about the same amount. So they’re still running.

Walking into a tackle shop can be overwhelming — there’s so much gear that seems essential. But if your goal is simply to catch a few fish, keep it simple. Pick up a handful of jig heads and a few soft plastic bodies to pair with them. With these, you can imitate minnows, baitfish, crayfish, and most of the main food sources fish go after. A jig and soft plastic combo will catch almost anything — it’s all I use for perch and crappie where I live. You can always expand later by adding a few lures for pike or some topwater baits for largemouth, which are a lot of fun. But you don’t need every lure on the shelf. I selected three of my best lures for this year: 1. **Start with Paddle Tail and Jighead**: The paddle tail creates a realistic swimming action as it moves through the water, imitating baitfish or other prey. My best color combination is an orange paddle tail paired with a red jig head. I've had 9 fish caught in 9 consecutive casts. 2. **Then try familiar Senko Worms**: Senko worms are soft plastic baits that have a unique, wiggly action when they sink or are twitched along the bottom. They can be fished wacky style for a slow fall or Texas style for more versatility. I recommend using a shrink tube in the middle for durability. My best individual Senko lasted 3 outings and caught me 20 fish before it tore in half. 3. **Catch big fish with Double Willow Blade Spinnerbait**: These spinning blades create flash and vibration, mimicking the appearance of baitfish and attracting predatory species. I have caught huge bass and giant pike ranging from 5 lbs to 8 lbs.
