Ethan Roberts At Hay Creek
Who says winter isn’t for fishing?! While it isn’t as cold here as it was in New York before I left for break, the fishing seems to be significantly slower. I found some success last week with a nice 18” brown trout, but since then, I’ve had two unsuccessful trips to the nearby spillway. Today, I found myself with an hour of daylight left wanting to catch some fish, so I drove five minutes down the road to a frequently productive stretch of creek. Within the first few casts I landed an extremely pretty wild brown. I think the cows were jealous of my catch. However, this was my only fish of the day. I ran into an old friend today too, a palomino I had stumbled upon about five months ago still occupying the same section of creek. Like he did over the summer, he followed my lure numerous times without committing.

From the river, to the lake, to the pond, all in 2 hours. Caught a bass at each location, with the biggest being about half a pound.

The creek was very muddy today but I managed to land 2 browns and a couple bass. Both browns were around 11-12 inches.

Three different species today in Hay Creek, Rock Bass, Smallmouth, and creek chub. Had a couple of trout on but couldn’t land them.
