Nicola River

Made one of the most insane catches of my fishing career so far today. Full-grown Chinook Salmon on my 5 wt rod. He gave me multiple chances to hookup, as long as I put the jig close enough to his face to tickle his nose. Wasn’t easy to do without spooking him but got it done. Fought for at least 20 min, still swam off fairly strong.

Caught two beautiful Coho this evening on the Nicola River, first ever of this species! First one had an ugly kype on it and was fairly dark. Second one might’ve been a female but I couldn’t be sure cuz it had a slight jaw on it too. Second one was much shinier, definitely could’ve been tablefare if retention was open. Released these two hogs to do what they’ve came all this way to do… go to freakytown! 🤣🤣 Tight lines everyone!
