Nothing was biting until I switched it up to a Texas rig on a senko 1/2

I am fishing again this summer! Today I caught what appears to be a rock bass. This is the first bass I caught by casting from the shore instead of casting on my kayak. I don’t think it says in the fishing regulations if you are allowed to keep rock basses, although you are definitely not allowed to keep smallmouth and largemouth basses yet because it’s too early. I released the rock bass after I took some pictures. It was refusing to go at first, so I released it at another location of the same lake and it finally went away.

Thanks for the early morning top water bite. Did not weight him but around 1.7lb/2lb ish
