Kachemak Bay

Ugh! Lost a dolly varden and missed a salmon strike. Oh well, a sculpin saved me from a skunk on a cool rainy 4th of July. Hope everyone enjoyed a safe and relaxing Independence Day.

No salmon or char wanted to play this morning after commercial purse seiners scoured the beach yesterday, but a feisty little flounder saved me from a skunk. He bit a black and white Clouser at daybreak just after high tide.

Anniversary trip up to Alaska to fish for Halibut and Salmon - caught a few extras along the way!!! Great trip!!

Decided to make a few casts before bed to see if I could coax another Dolly Varden into biting. Surprised by a sockeye salmon that grabbed a Pink Revolution fly. No C&R for this poor little guy. He's going to be on the menu tomorrow.

Sorry to have gotten this little guy out of the water, but the surf was kinda rough and I forgot my landing net. He was kind enough to grab a Pink Revolution just after high tide. We're enjoying a sunny day on the beach after a pretty sunrise.

Good two day run to Kasilof for some dipnetting! Had a blast and filled the cooler!

A nice school of coho were running up and down the beach approaching high tide, but only got one strike from them. Caught a nice fat dolly and a starry flounder.
