Reuven Malka At Lehigh River
First fish of 2026! Just got back from the trip of a lifetime! I caught a fish that I've been trying to catch for a good few years now, the wild Brown Trout. As the year came to a close, I decided that I'm not gonna rest till I catch one! So that's what happened. I went to 12 rivers in the last month, but luck really wasn't on my side. Yesterday turned out to be a little different. I went to 2 rivers and decided why not try one more! On the first cast some monster swiped at my lure, and when I say monster I mean close to a 3 foot long brown! Second cast, I hooked into it, but unfortunately after a long fight he broke me off. I was so mad because I've been trying for so long to catch these fish, finally I hook into a giant and he breaks me off! But I realized that I had to move on. At the next hole I caught a species of trout which is pretty rare on the east coast. I know their a lot more common out west, but not here. So stay tuned for the next post. But it got crazier! Just as the sun was going down I made it to the last hole of the day. I casted my spinner in and this guy grabbed it once, and came off. Took it again, and came off. Don't ask me how he got off twice, but he did. I was not having it! So I tied on the Jig and bam! I got him! This is what I love about browns, their so aggressive! This is the second time I hooked into a brown 3 times in a row! This was definitely the best day of trout fishing I've ever had! I never caught a brown and a tiger on the same day, and never caught trout this early in the year. Although I did lose a giant. But I'll be back very soon to get revenge on him. Once again persistence paid off! It feels so much more rewarding that I had to put in a lot of time and work for these fish! I also wanna give a shout out to Ryan Jones for all the tips on catching them. Thanks bro, I sincerely appreciate it! And please go give him a follow if your not already! He catches some insane fish!
