Got my pb rainbow trout today. I caught it on a beatle spin and my ultralight fishing rod. Was a awesome fight. But I am still chasing the big one that I lost last lost week. I estimate it to be about double the size of that one. I lost it on a small swimbait.

A pretty wild ‘bow caught in a tiny stream. The third slide is a reference for flow level. My buddy Preston caught the one pictured, I had a fish slightly smaller come unbuttoned before I could grab a picture. I knew there was fish in this creek because I had seen one on a hike earlier this spring. This was my second attempt to catch them, and was successful this time. Willows growing over the creek made it tough to fish. The second slide is a couple trout that wouldn’t take a fly, but it was worth it to get the video. I’m not exactly sure the origin of these fish, but I was suprised to see fish of this size here. There’s a couple lakes upstream that have been stocked for half a century and were stocked with diploids until the 90’s. It’s very possible there’s been an established population since then. There’s multiple barriers in the form of waterfalls upstream, and the creek drops subsurface further downstream, so it was cool to find these little pockets of fish. Whether “native” or not these are definitely tiny creek wild trout.
