Recent Catches At Nicola Lake

Landed this big Burbot this evening, my first ever of this species! Landed on a small ice spoon hanging off a bottom fishing rig. The hook was swapped for a treble and tipped with a live Shiner. Two of my friends I was fishing with caught one too. I wanna make a special shoutout to my indigenous homie Preston for coming along, wouldn’t be possible without him, from a legalistic standpoint. This species is under indigenous harvest only regulations in this region. We gladly gave him first dibs on the fish fry, which was absolutely scrumptious. Also, super proud to say we got into these Burbs right from shore; definitely not the standard method of fishing them. Mild temps have left Nicola Lake open for peak Burbot season, and we weren’t missing out! Tight lines everyone :)
