Yesterday’s mission was simple: catch my first brook trout. The evening couldn’t have been better—calm water, cool air, and the last light of the setting sun shimmering across the river. I sent a long cast into the fading light and watched the bobber drift still… then disappear. A quick hookset, a flash beneath the surface, and moments later I held my first brookie in hand.
