Recent Catches At Barnes Meadow Reservoir

With the drought and wildfires ramping up in Colorado, I figured I better squeeze in some fishing while I still can. I kayak trolled Barnes Meadow, where I've had success in the past. Not the biggest fish, but consistent numbers. The conditions were a bit challenging today with the wind, but still managed to land about 8 trout.

Fall is in the air and I snuck in my annual kayak fishing trip to the Cameron Pass area a bit later than normal. Barnes Meadow Reservoir produced in quantity like usual, though the dozen or so trout I caught were on the small side. I also fished Joe Wright Reservoir for the first time, hoping to catch a grayling. But no luck whatsoever there. #catch24

First line drop and a nice eating fish.

My PB cutbow last week. He was shared by three of us for dinner.

After catching 2 trout in nearby Chambers Lake, I took my kayak to Barnes Meadow Reservoir to try my luck there. I was concerned right off the bat because the water was rather murky and discolored for some reason. Despite the water clarity, the fishing was great. I didn't catch anything large, but I was able to catch something every few minutes. I was mostly trolling a spoon and a small crankbait behind me. The highlight was a simultaneous catch on both rods and I was able to get both trout in the net.
