Winter fishing at its finest… Spent a few days in western Maryland and Pennsylvania skiing and attempting to catch some fish. My first outing in Maryland was the only successful one as I targeted some trout in a four foot wide creek. I fished the same tiny creek last year and landed a small wild rainbow, which was my target this time around. I immediately had action from these wild rainbows and hooked about six of them. However, all of them came off before they got to the net. I was using my smallest roadrunner yet the hook was too big to keep these fish pinned. I finally reached the last hole I wanted to fish and to my surprise, a nice brown trout smacked my micro roadrunner. I was blown away that this fish was living in such a small stream. This guy had some cool dark purple coloration towards the back of his body which I don’t think I’ve ever seen in a brown trout. I finished the day off by wading a section of the Youghiogheny River, but didn’t do much casting as I was met with rapid flow rates and many snags. The next portion of the trip landed me on the Ohio River, where the snow was falling and temperatures were more than 30 degrees colder than two days prior. To no surprise, my attempts to fish a large spillway were unsuccessful.

Yough in western MD had decent action today. Left 3 other trout on the table and 1 who i lost screwing around on the go pro. Landed these 3. Palomino has odd shape and couple aggressive dink smallies
