Recent Catches At Kent Lake

The conditions couldn’t have been better today. Overcast, temps in the low 80s, slight wind, which means the bass were willing to roam out from under their usual cover. Started out with a spinner bait but the pike wouldn’t leave it alone so I switched over to a whacky rig and eventually top-water. 👊

Hot, sunny and a crowded Sunday lake full of boats meant the fish weren’t venturing far from cover or shade or they were staying deep. I saw a ton of guys chasing schools of deeper fish on their sonars so I opted to stick tight to the shore along the dropoffs with a whacky rig… and worked it slooow. 👊

Had a couple of hours tonight. I started with a cane walker, using it as a search bait, long casts along weed beds, into open water and across deeper cuts. I like to work it fast. It takes a lot of casts and patience but you will get strikes. Got a huge blow up on the cane but he missed it. So I immediately threw a spinner bait to the same spot and this fatty came back around and crushed it. A Senko or whacky is a great second-chance bait too. Tight lines! 👊
