Recent Catches At Delaware River (Lower)

Headed out to a river I fished last winter, this time fishing a new section of it. It did not dissapoint. I landed 8 fish, all in the 10-12" range. Most, if not all of these fish were wild, as they only stock the resevoir below. The biggest brown of the day was 15", and I also landed a nice 11" brook trout. This was probably one of the best fishing days I've had all year. It started off extremely slow, as I was working a lower section of river and not having any luck for about 2 hours. Once I got to the section where the road curved off from the river, it was 3 hours of nonstpp action. I think the water was more oxygenated as well, which probably helped. There were multiple fish in every run. I lost a few fish that jumped and spit the hook, and had a ton more chade the spoon to my feet. I went through 4 different little cleo spoons, and they didn't seem to have a color preference. I ended up switching to a kastmaster after loosing my last spoon, and I caught fish, but the cleo was definitely more effective. I had my fly rod with my, but I didn't have any good streamers for the water I was fishing. I probably could have done really well nymph fishing if I tried. There were tricos coming off around 11, and towards the end at 2, there were some darker size 16 caddis coming off. There were also some fish rising, eating caddis off the surface. I can't wait to come back to this river. There is another section further up that should hold more brook trout, and potentially larger brook trout. Unfortunately, it is a decent drive from my house, so I will have to wait until Thabksgiving Break to head back.

A few of the last trips combined. Caught 6 different species on the last outing. And caught 2 new species as well. Got my first Rock bass and my first Redbreast sunfish! These species were on my bucket list for the year but I wasn't attempting to catch them so it was pretty cool! A bunch of trout walleye, smallies, and my first fish on the fly! Can't wait for fall! Hopefully gonna catch my first Salmon, and some big browns! It's gonna be my first time fishing a brown trout spawn so super excited!

This Upper West Branch bronze beauty fought like you might expect. Wow. Caught an impressive Hendrickson hatch today, so there were lots of risers to target. Man I love this stuff.
