Acadian Redfish …. I have only caught 2 of these in my life — but every time is memorable. Huge head way oversized compared to its tiny body, massive bulging EYES 👀, gorgeous red and golden hues! Mother Nature is simply amazing!!

Another solid cod … 27” long. Here in New England, we are allowed to keep 1 cod per fisherman per day thru October. So I took a chance and I threw back a 24” cod that I caught an hour earlier. It paid off! #fillingthefreezer

Caught this guy, however he was missing a couple chunks of his body from another shark during the reel in.

Fish Angler DAD’s out there …. Fall fishing with my favorite angler ever - my son - does it get any better than this? Wow …. my son and I sure put a THUMPING on the ATLANTIC COD this glorious Sunday 🙏 !! OK - if I am being honest, my son did!! I mostly caught medium-sized puppies and watched him reel in some serious hawg cod! We caught 9 or 10 in a couple hours of fishing — good ratios — kept 1 each (they have to be 23” or larger to harvest). A double-up along the way, including a hilarious blooper video — these cod are so friggan slippery!! They do NOT like being photographed, I guess! Even the ones being released were camera shy! The cod are so colorful this year — deep and dark hues with gorgeous leopard 🐆 spots that really “pop” in the sunlight. This tells me the Massachusetts state fish is on the rebound - healthy and thriving. Nothing like seeing your “kid” smile all day ! PS - if you raise your kids to love and respect nature, you are gifted days like this when it warms your heart. ☀️ ❤️ 🎣. Feeling grateful and so blessed today 🙏

Here is Part 2 of my Sunday session with my incredible son. Part 1 was all about our cod success. Part 2 is some of the best Striper action we saw ALL year! I honestly thought they had left town and began their trek to the Carolina’s. But after catching a boatload of mackerel live bait, even despite seeing no real signs of life (no birds flocking, no bait or fish blitzing the surface - I let my instincts lead the way and we went hunting. After 20 minutes of fussing around and seeing almost nothing - just as I was about to give up and try my luck at cod — there they were… the herd of Stripers, chasing schools of bunker and random mackerel in deeper 35 feet of water. And despite seeing two dozen other boats in the general area, none of them seemed to notice that we alone floated right on top of them and saw immediate action. We landed 8 in a 45-minute window of action … 3 just under 20 lbs and 5 slot fish (we kept 2 that were 30” fish). Usually I am giving nasty stares to over-eager fisherman looking to cut in on my action. In this one rare case - nobody saw that we were reeling in fish after fish. In fact, boat after boat gave up and left while we caught one after another. Nobody paid us ANY attention. Don’t you just love when the Fishing God (the one… the only!! 🙏) smiles upon you!!! Woohoo!! 👌 💪 🎣 🤙
