Recent Catches At Sucker Brook

Caught some suckers today. Was a very tough day, but I managed to get one fish to take my fly. She just so happened to be the biggest one in the group, at about 22.5 inches, which is also technically qualifies for a VT Master Angler Fish. There were not many fish in the river, as I believe the water temp was just a tad too cold, at somewhere a bit under 44 degrees(they spawn at 45). Only the pool closest to the lake held fish, and after they saw me tripping over rocks on the bank, they hugged the bottom real tight and did not move at all. I basically had to put the size 20 zebra midge in her mouth before she moved less than a millimeter to eat it. Because I had to literally spoonfeed the fish, the smaller sucker I landed was accidently snagged, and I snagged a second fish. Luckily for me, the biggest one decided to eat. I'll probably head back next week, and hopefully the water will be warmer, which should mean more highly active fish spread throughout the creek.
