Recent Catches At Mississagua Lake

Followed an old Facebook post that described large lakers here. I saw many marks but none would commit. Another handful of marks let me learn what size these little guys actually were, and how to catch them. I had to downgrade to a little shad, at which point they kept nipping the tail as I reeled up. I then realized they were probably trying to cripple the baitfish, and would watch the lure for an injured response. If I kept reeling they would swim away, but if I let it hover while twitching, or better yet slowly drop it down like a dying fish, they would then slam the lure fully. These guys are FAST and really good at throwing hooks. When they hit the lure the second time, I still only had only a moment to set the hook, otherwise it's would be a swing and a miss. While I didn't get any larger fish, I felt pretty good about figuring these little guys out. I think I caught 4 or 5 before deciding to move on. Rest of the day was filled with bass. So. Many. Bass... All little guys. I think I've caught more here than anywhere else. I got a handful right by the launch area. Some banks with fallen trees were literally every cast lol
