First Catch

I finally reeled one in at this pond. I’ve been here numerous times and the only other time I hooked a bass, it spit the hook right before I pulled it in. I caught this one on a black and blue swim jig with a craw trailer.

Yesterday, I was targeting bass and came up short. I saw some jumping today and a few dead along the shoreline, but I brought my light rig. The Spring die off is well under way, as there were also several dead crappie. I caught a few different types of sunfish and a couple of channel cats. 14 on the day is evidence enough that worms are still the king of freshwater fishing.

First fishing outing of the year, and this little guy kept me from getting skunked
