Recent Catches At Oshawa Creek

More sardinos. Double nymph (only bit midge) under an indicator, 4x on a 5wt. So cold, fly fishing is becoming less attractive. I also found someone’s snagging rig in the shallows, attached to 50lb braid. Better not be y’all.

More tiny rainbow action today. 5wt, 4x. They didn’t like eggs or worms today, only nymphs. Also I caught this knife in the Oshawa creek (it’s natural habitat).

I’m back. Tiny rainbow on size 18 midge in black, 4x on my 5wt. Not the size I’m looking for. I’m gonna try to catch a nice one on jerkbaits or streamers this season. I’m sure they’ve seen enough eggs.

Creek monster. I’m wearing US 11, the same size as this monster’s head. #catchlog #catchnrelease #kingsalmon

Needed more practice with streamers. Black wooly on a 3/4 wt, 4x (I ran out of 6x). The Oshawa rainbow trout still don’t like wooly buggers, unless they are constantly twitched and retrieved. They are losing interest as soon as I let go to pick up the next length of line. Any suggestions? Don’t say inline spinner

These Oshawa creek fish are more readily hitting the pink inline spinner in 30 C than the double nymph indicator rig, nightcrawlers, or any woolly bugger I own. It’s insane what anti-salmon propaganda does to young, impressionable rainbows.
