Hit up burr oak this morning and got off to a fast start catching 3 fish within the first hour powershotting grass edges and they were absolutely choking it. Those fish were all dinks so I went looking for a bigger bite. Started to target main lake points in deeper water with the higher water temps and caught another dink. So I decided to pick up the big stick and go up shallow punching isolated lily pad clumps and managed to find a bigger bite. . . The home pond produced for me today! This was the best day I’ve ever had at Burr Oak! . I haven’t fished burr oak much at all this year but thought I’d give it a try today. Going into the day I had a game plan and I executed it to near perfection even with losing 2 more decent fish. The theme of the day was to be different, fish lures that not many people fish at this lake, but still fish in a way that gives me confidence in what I’m doing. I intended on fishing 3 lures and all 3 put fish in the boat. Flipping grass edges with a power shot was the money today. I put several fish in the boat doing exactly that. I also spent time covering water with a jighead minnow (without FFS) and targeting deeper points with a wobble head. .
