Got to spend a few hours on the river today casting some big glidebaits and swimbaits. I quickly had some success and caught the biggest smallmouth of the day about 10 minutes into fishing. He came in at 3lbs 13oz and had a crazy looking forehead. The bite died down for a while but I tied on the biggest lure in my tackle box and the fish starting munching again. I managed to land a gorgeous pike with a neat eyeball after just a few casts. The very next cast I landed a 2lb smallmouth. The rest of the day was a bit slow and I managed just a few more smaller bass.
